The most important thing to remember when using
a moldable ear plug, is that you must not elongate
the plug and you must not push the plug deep into
the ear canal. Moldable ear plugs are not designed
to be inserted deep into the ear canal. They are de-
signed to be flattened and to cover only the ear
opening. Do not insert the ear plug into the ear
canal, and always use a whole ear plug for each ear.
Do not reduce or make them smaller. To do so may
cause the ear plug to become lodged in your ear,
making it difficult to remove.
When you flatten the ear plug against the ear open-
ing, do so until you feel a complete seal that is air
and water tight. As the ear plug warms and softens,
in response to your body temperature,it will adjust
to the contours of the ear opening. It will form a per-
fect seal that is unique to the shape of your ear, creating a custom ear plug just for you. Forming a seal
that is exact to the contours of your ear opening allows the ear plug to seal perfectly and hold tight, even
when you're body surfing and being tumbled around in the ocean waves. Believe me, there's no need to
insert the ear plugs deep into your ear canals. They work great when used as directed. Also, when re-
moving them, if you feel like you can't grab the top of the ear plug sufficiently enough to pull it down and
out to remove it (because you have not followed the directions properly and have pushed it too deep
into the ear canal), you can use your index finger to gently peel and roll back the top of the plug in order
to break the seal and remove the ear plug. Never use any sort of tool or apparatus to loosen or to dig at
the ear plug. Go to your doctor and have them remove it for you. Most of all, remain calm and relaxed.
You will be all right until you get the ear plug removed. It may be a little uncomfortable, but it is made
with excellent ingredients that will not harm you. And in all the years that people have been using Joe's
Ear Plugs, no one has ever reported getting one stuck in their ear. However, it is a moldable ear plug
and you do want to take every precaution to use them safely. Follow the directions carefully, and remem-
ber to not reduce the ear plug in size or make it smaller. Use a whole ear plug for each ear and experi-
eence what a great ear plug feels like.
Additional Precautions
Joe's Ear Plugs should not be used for diving at depths beyond 10 feet. The increased water pressure can push the ear plug inward. If you are wearing Joe's Ear Plugs, while using hot tubs, hot springs, or any other hot bath, do not immerse the ear plugs in the hot water, ( when they are in your ears), for more than sixty seconds at any one time. The hot water could soften the ear plugs to the point where it could be a problem to remove them. If young children are using these ear plugs, while soaking in a hot bath, hot tub, or hot springs, then they should have adult supervision at all times to make sure that they follow these precautions. If you are taking a hot bath and are going to wash your hair, you can use Joe's Ear Plugs to keep water out of your ears, but you should not immerse the ear plugs continuously in the hot water for more than sixty seconds at any one time. Sixty seconds should be adequate time for rinsing your hair clean. It is especially important that you not wear Joe's Ear Plugs if you think that you may fall asleep, while soaking in a hot bath, hot tub, or hot springs. You would risk the possibility of having your ears (with the ear plugs in them) immersed in the hot water for too long, causing the ear plugs to be- come so soft that they may be difficult to remove. If this should happen, then wait a few minutes until the ear plugs have cooled sufficiently enough before attempting to remove them from your ears. It's better to wait for them to cool and become more solid, rather than trying to remove them when they are too soft, and possibly ripping off a portion of the plug. And again, no one has ever reported having one of Joe's Ear Plugs getting stuck in their ear. So be smart, use caution, and be safe.
Joe's Ear Plugs are great to use to reduce engine and cabin noise while flying. However, you should remove them, when ascending during take-off and when descending for landing. Your ears need to adjust to the changes that occur during rapid ascents and descents. A solid ear plug will prevent those adjustments from happening, which can result, as pain being felt in your ears. If small children are using these ear plugs, while flying, they should do so with adult supervision. Make sure that your children have them out, before rapid ascent at take-off and before rapid descent during landing. The other option would be to break the ear plug's seal just before take-off and just before descending. That's what I do and it works fine. I've read on other ear plug sites that it may be fine to leave other ear plugs sealed at take-off. And for small children, they suggest that it may even be better to have the ear plugs sealed for the entire flight. That may be true for some other types of ear plugs, but Joe's Ear Plugs really do form a perfect and complete seal, and I would not suggest keeping them sealed for take-off and landing. I would suggest breaking the seal or taking them out. Apply good common sense when using Joe's Ear Plugs and follow these precautions when soaking in hot water, flying, or diving. Your safety should always come first, so make the smart choices that help to keep you safe.

Sleep: On my story page I mentioned that I use my ear plugs every night for sleeping, and I do. One thing
that is a little different is that I only use one ear plug, when I have to hear the alarm clock in the morning.
I lay with my other ear against the pillow. It works great for me. I sleep well and I can hear the alarm too.
So if you need to hear that alarm in the morning, I suggest using one ear plug. It makes your ear plug sup-
ply last twice as long too. Also, the way that I soften the ear plugs (especially on cold nights), is by hold-
ing them in a closed fist, while I get ready for bed. Actually, you can use this technique at any time. It
makes it so you do not have to work the ear plugs with your fingers in order to soften them. That can be
very helpful if you have any sort of arthritic condition that causes pain when using your fingers, or have
any other limitations in using your hands. And I especially wanted to let you know that these ear plugs
work really great for blocking out other people's snoring. There's a lot of happy couples out there who
have been most thankful for that very reason.
Swimming: From what all the swimmers tell me, these ear plugs out-perform all the other ear plugs that
they have tried. They form such a good seal, keeping water out 100%. But if your ears or the ear plugs are
all wet, when you put them in, they may or may not not seal as good. It's best to have your ears and the
ear plugs clean and dry.
Musicians: These are really great ear plugs for protecting your hearing. What's nice is that you can wear
them loose or tight, depending how loud things are. You can be moving through a song, and when you
finish, you can reach up and break the seal on one or both of your ear plugs, for all normal conversation.
The ear plugs will stay right in place, and then when it's time to play again, just give them a little press
with your finger to make an easy seal and your all set to go. My 14 year old son is in a rock band that gets
real loud and all of the band members say the ear plugs work great. I happened to play in bands for ten
years myself and cannot emphasize enough, how important it is to protect your hearing.
Business: No matter what your business occupation may be, I just wanted to say that Joe's Ear Plugs are
probably the most comfortable ear plugs you'll buy. How comfortable an ear plug is has always been very
important to me. Also, if you are using ear plugs every day or night, you should be thinking about what
the ear plug is made of and how that might be absorbing through your skin. Good ingredients, super
comfortable, and long lasting is a great combination for your business and your workers.
Parents: I'm a parent myself, so I can speak here with a little experience. When the kids are small and
crying, for whatever the reason, ear plugs can save the day. I often tell new mothers to try using them
when the babies are upset and crying. The ear plugs dampen the sound just enough too let your nervous
system relax. And that's especially true when you are walking the child and trying to comfort them. The
shoulder they cry on is very near the ear they cry in. We all have our days, some more sensitive than
others. Back when my boy was little, we would have some of his friends over, and they could be pretty
noisy at times. Wearing my ear plugs gave me just enough space to relax. I could still hear them enough
to monitor their activity, and at the same time let them express themselves at the volume where their fun
took them.
Best Regards,
Joseph ...........
